Enrollment Procedure

  1. 1. Upon enrollment, a Registration Fee of Php3,200.00 must be paid in advance to the School’s Bank Account.
  2. 2. Five (5) days after enrollment, an invoice will be issued to the student so that he/she can pay his/her Tuition and Accommodation Fee, Pick up Fee and Special Study Permit Fee (SSP) for the length of time that he/she is enrolled before the start of classes. This must be done one month in advance.
  3. 3. The student must get Accident Insurance, without such they cannot enroll.
  4. 4. If the student wish to extend their course, the Extension Application Deadline should be two weeks before the desired date of extension.
  5. 5. School Policy must be read

Upon arrival and or during their stay at the school, the student must be prepared to pay the following fees:

  1. 1. Visa Extension Fees (Php500.00 Handling Fee inclusive)
    • For the first Visa Extension good for 38 days
    • - Php3,530.00
    • For the Second Visa Extension good for 30 days
    • - Php3,790.00
    • For the Third Visa Extension good for 30 days
    • - Php2,830.00
    • If the cost of Visa Extension Fee and SSP Fee increase, the student must pay additional cost.
  2. 2. Book Fees ranging from Php 250.00 to Php 500.00 per book
  3. 3. Telephone use will be charged accordingly.
  4. 4. Refundable Accommodation Deposit of Php 2,500.00 for damages to school property or unpaid bills.
  5. 5. Every end of the month, the student must pay the amount shown on the VECO (Visayas Electric company) Bill.

Requirements for SSP and Visa Extension are the following:

  1. 1. Two (2x2) pictures and One (1x1) picture for Identification Card.
  2. 2. Passport that has over 6 months validity.
  3. 3. Money for visa Extensions

After Level Placement Tests Students must fill up the following form on the first day of class:

  1. 1. Personal History of Data for SSP Applicant.
  2. 2. Application for Extension of Stay
  3. 3. TESDA Manpower Profile Form

Refund Policy

  1. 1. The Registration Fee is non-refundable.
  2. 2. If a student wish to cancel his/her enrollment before it starts, they will have to put it down in writing:
    • - Cancel 21 days before it starts, the student will get full refund of Tuition and Accommodation Fee.
    • - Cancel 14 days to 3 days before it starts, the student will get full refund of Tuition Fee, however, the Accommodation Fee will be reduced by one week Fee.
    • - Cancel 2 days before it starts, the students will get full refund of Tuition Fee, however, the Accommodation Fee will be reduced by 2 weeks Fee.
  3. 3. If a student want to cancel their course after it started, they will receive their tuition fee if:
    • - Cancellation is 25% of total number of days of enrollment, they will receive 50% of the remaining Tuition & Accommodation Fee.
    • - Cancellation is over 25% of total number of days of enrollment, there will be no refund. But if the reason for cancellation are the following: disease, accidents, personal or any member of their family, they will receive 50% of remaining Tuition and Accommodation Fee. However, a Medical Certificate is necessary to prove the truthfulness of their allegations.
  4. 4. Refund of Tuition and Accommodation Fee will be paid to the student through the agency within 30 days.
  5. 5. If a student is expelled because of violation offenses, there will be absolutely no refunds.

General Questions

What is your biggest weakness or challenge?

At present, we are challenged by the school's limitation in size.

How can you guarantee total-immersion if there are lots of students who share the same mother tongue?

We mix the students together in the one to four classes and the one to eight classes where they are given activities to integrate in by the supervising teacher. Also in the dormitory, we can assign them to a room with other foreign speaking students.

Do you set a penalty for speaking a language other than English?

Yes, we do. Our school has English Zones.

What kind of placement test do you have? For how many levels?

We have placement tests for Reading, Listening/writing, Core English, and Speaking for four levels namely Elementary, Pre Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced level.

What is the address students’ family can send mail and parcel to the student?

The address of the school is 83 Don Jose Avila Street, Ramos Extension, Capitol Site, Cebu City, 6000 Cebu Philippines

Facilities

Is there a study room or a library where students can go for quiet study?

The 38 classrooms are available for students to use for quiet study.

What kind of self-study materials do you have?

We have a library section in our administrative office where our students can borrow books for personal use. We also have magazines, newspapers at the Lobby for student’s consumption.

Do you have clinic and nurse? What are the opening hours?

We do not have a clinic and nurse. The reason is we are two (2) minutes away on foot, from the Emergency Room of Cebu Doctor’s Hospital where our students can get immediate care in case of emergency. But we do have First Aid Kit in the school for use

What are the opening hours of other facilities such as gym/ swimming pool/ others?

We do not have gym/swimming pool. But we are ten (10) minutes away by taxi from Waterfront Hotel where our students can avail for 24 hours, its first class swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room and dance classes (as scheduled) for a minimum membership fee of about Php2,600.00 per month. Taxi Fare to get there is Php70.00 one way.

Do you provide toilet paper in the comfort rooms of the dormitory room or on Campus? If you sell it, how can students get them (cost and place to get them)?

We do not provide toilet papers in the comfort rooms of the dormitory or on campus. However, we do sell toilet papers in our commissary inside the school campus for Php10.00 per roll. Our Commissary is open from 10:30 to 19:30, Monday to Saturday.

What is the shape of the outlets in the room? Is it A type(three prong) as same as in Japan?

Yes, it is the same but our voltage is 220 volts. We believe Japan is 110 volts.

Dormitory

Are there male and female buildings/floors?

No. At present, our Student’s Affairs Officer is staying inside school campus in a very strategically located room and can oversee the movement of students. Each floor has rooms with female students rooming together and male students rooming together.

Do the rooms have windows?

Yes. All rooms also have a back door and a small veranda to hang clothes if students did personal laundry.

Where are valuables kept? Do you provide a safe or a lockable drawer in the rooms?

Each student is provided with a wardrobe Cabinet that has an inside drawer with a lock. However, many students have chosen to deposit their money through the School Principal. Their valuables are placed inside the School safe, where we safe-keep all of our student’s passports as well.

Are laundry facilities such as coin-operated washers and dryers provided?

No. Laundry baskets and Laundry slips are provided in each room for each student. Student’s Laundry are collected twice a week by our Laundry Crew for washing and delivered back the same day.

Are towels provided? How often?

No. Towels are not provided. But personal towels can be submitted with their laundry for washing twice a week.

How flexible are dorm room assignments? Do you consider room assignment requests if available?

Yes, we allow room request change if available.

Family members of opposite sex can get in a room together? What about fiancée?

Yes, Family members of opposite sex can get in a room together. However, we do not allow fiancées to room together.

What is the policy for overnight stay off-campus?

If students come home later than the curfew hours, they will only be allowed entry to the school after signing in the Logbook with their Full Names and Time of arrival. Staying Overnight off-campus is allowed, However, a waiver needs to be signed by the student beforehand and submitted to the Students Affairs Officer.

What is banned in the dorm?

Smoking, Drinking Alcohol, a visitor of the opposite sex, loud music/TV program, or boisterous laughing and talking are not allowed in the dormitory.

What are the policies for visitors?

Guests are allowed only from 09:00 - 17:00 in the Courtyard. Loitering around the School Premises is strictly prohibited.

 

Is there an emergency contact number or dorm phone number that the students can give to their family?

Each room is provided with a phone that has an outside line. Family members can call the school trunk line, 63-32-4124777; 63-32-2533749; 63-32-2553163, an automated attendant will ask you to press 1 then the room number that you wish to get connected to. Caller can be connected directly to the student’s room.

Are there payphones (for domestic and international calls) in the dormitory or in the school?

Each room has a telephone with an outside line for students to call anywhere in the world. Our students are given a Telephone Access Code to get an outside line , however, they will be billed monthly afterwards.

How many minutes does it take to reach the school from the dorm?

It will take one minute to walk from dorm to the school building.

How much per month do students spend on electricity, averagely?

On a two person room, students after splitting the cost will pay at least Php750.00 each. On a three person room, students after splitting the cost three-way will pay at least Php500.00 each. One person in a room will have to shoulder the Php1,500.00 per month.

Meal

Are there cooking facilities students can use?

Students can make noodles in the Commissary. An Electric Stove, a Pot and a cooking utensil are available for their use. But these cannot be brought to the rooms.

Activities

Is there a contact person for travel arrangements on holidays?

Yes, our school is connected with Delmar Travel & Tours, a very reliable travel agency. They can arrange packages for students if they so desire.

Does this person make the actual arrangements or do students?

Either way, is fine. If the students wish to make their own hotel and activity arrangement and travel agency does the booking of tickets only, it is acceptable too. However, the travel agency may do the actual arrangements if the student request for it.

Are there any clubs on school?

No, we do not provide clubs inside the campus.





Currency

Do you accept pesos / Dollars / Japanese yen? Cash or Credit Card?

We accept Philippine Pesos and US Dollars in Cash only.

Class

Are all classes held in English?

Yes, classes are all held in English.

Can students change or add class? How about changing teachers?

Yes, the students may change classes and change teachers. But to add class in excess of the six hours per day, student will have to pay additional fee at the school.

Others

Can students take official TOEIC test in your school? If so, do you have a fixed minimum number of Test takers to conduct TOEIC in your school? Do you set a fixed test date every month?

No. But we are connected with a local testing center and make necessary arrangements for a fee.

How much is the test fee and what will be needed to take test?

  1. Redesigned TOEIC will be administered monthly. The Following are the available test dates for the year 2009 with the corresponding deadline for pre-registration:

Preparation

If a student needs additional few nights stay due to the flight schedule, can he/she reserve the room including meal at canteen by paying a day rate? How much is the rate for one additional stay?

Yes, a student may do so. Our daily rate including the three meals is Php900.00 per day

How can students get meal when they arrive at campus at night after the scheduled Dinner time is finished? (Japanese students usually take flights arriving Cebu airport at around 16:00PM to 19:00PM)

Our staff, that picked the student up can take him/her to any nearby, (5 minutes away) fast food restaurants, such as McDonalds, Jollibee and Chow King that are open 24 hours.

How will the students know the person picking them up is from your school? Where is the meeting point at the airport?

He will be carrying a Sign Board. Meeting point is at the international arrival at point 11 or 14.

Is Cebu A Safe Place For Visitors?

Cebu is basically a safe place to be. Of course Cebu City, being one of the largest cities in the world, has its share of criminality.

Personal safety in a strange and remote country is very much dependent on someone’s personal behaviour. Behave properly and normally, and keep a low profile are the rules of the thumb for a safety stay in this beautiful country.
